Bendigo council lags in satisfaction rating, with nearly two thirds of voters disapproving

The Queensland government has released a breakdown of the satisfaction ratings of Bendigo council lags in satisfaction rating, with nearly two thirds of voters disapproving.

According to an official breakdown of the survey results compiled by Liberal senator Mitch Fifield, the proportion of those who were satisfied with how their councils' performance had stood since Queensland Government assumed office rose from 31 per cent in February.

In the previous two years, there was a 7-per-cent drop in satisfaction rating for Bendigo.

Senator Fifield said the results of the survey, published this morning, revealed how a strong commitment had been made from the Queensland Government to the economy and the workforce.

"It shows that our community remains at the forefront of economic recovery under our elected leaders," he said.

"And that commitment to the state remains firm, with the highest satisfaction rating ever, in line with Labor's overall survey results."

While the rate for Bendigo went down 3 per cent, more people were pleased with how their council was spending less and had been performing better than they had in the past two years, the ABS found.

The data released by the state government shows how satisfaction with Bendigo has fallen by 16 per cent since the state was sworn in as a state in June 2012, after the city of Bendigo received a major investment in a major highway linking it to the rest of Queensland.

The report was conducted by Ipsos Mori research for the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
